Wella® Presents The Second Annual
Best And Worst Red Carpet Hair Survey
Woodland Hills, CA, March 27, 2005 – Who’s hot? Who’s not? On the biggest evening of the motion picture industry, the Academy Awards® red carpet has always been the premier showcase of beauty and fashion, where celebrities arrive to the screams of adoring fans and the media watching their every move. This year proved to be no exception when it came to hair fashion. For the second year in a row, Wella commissioned salondaily.com to conduct a survey of salon professionals on which celebrity’s hair was all the rave, and which was simply a disaster on Oscar® night.
According to those surveyed, Best Female Haircolor belonged to Kate Winslet, a far cry from the punk-red haircolor she sported in her nominated role in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In a close race for Best Male Haircolor, Johnny Depp narrowly defeated Leonardo DiCaprio with his dark-toned shaggy locks.
Red-carpet favorite Gwyneth Paltrow, arrived with a long, lustrous flow of beautiful blonde hair. Although she was not nominated for an Academy Award this year, she was a double-winner on the online poll, picked as both Best Blonde and Hair You’d Like to Run Your Fingers Through.
Salon professionals thought that Penelope Cruz was Best Brunette, while first-time Oscar winner Jamie Foxx was overwhelmingly chosen as Best Buzz, defeating the host of the evening, Chris Rock.
Best Updo went to Salma Hayek, whose beautiful, classy hairstyle was simply timeless. Talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey was chosen as having the Best Waves of the evening, with her tinted locks effortlessly moving as she worked the red carpet.
Survey respondents seem to agree on some of the worst hair on the red carpet this year. The Worst Red Carpet Hair belonged to Scarlett Johansson, who wore a wispy updo and an ultra-blonde haircolor that made her hair appear frizzy and unhealthy.
And who did respondents think should Go Back to their Natural Haircolor? None other than Renee Zellweger, with an extremely dark haircolor that contrasted her skin’s light complexion, receiving a whopping 70 percent of the votes.
